Regular Council Meeting March 7th. 2005


Present:

Reeve Ken Noland, Councilors Pentti Palonen, Jeff Bailey, Jeff Middleton and Ed Wright.

BE IT RESOLVED:
That the minutes of the last council meeting held on February 7th. 2005 be approved as circulated.

BE IT RESOLVED:
That road voucher No. 2 for the amount of $4,813.02 be passed for payment.

That we approve payment of the general accounts list of $28,652.05.

RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS the local United Fish and Game Clubs of Manitoulin in co-operation with volunteers and municipalities through it’s fish hatchery and fish planting in the Manitoulin areas work very hard toward sustaining and improving the areas fisheries on and around Manitoulin Island.

WHEREAS the recreational and commercial fisheries in the Great Lakes historically and presently constitute a large component of the areas income revenues.

AND WHEREAS the survival of the industry is threatened by the cormorants and new invasive species.

THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Corporation of the Township of Burpee and Mills petition the Ministry of Natural Resources to reduce the cormorant and the invasive species threat, and also for the restoration of the recreational and commercial fisheries within the Georgian Bay area.
