Regular Council Meeting June 6th. 2005

Reeve Ken Noland, Councilors Pentti Palonen, Jeff Bailey, and Jeff Middleton.

Bonnie Bailey, Mike Wright - Road Superintendent, Hans Dittmar - Building Inspector & By-law Officer, Dennis Blackburn - Fire Chief.

BE IT RESOLVED:
That the minutes of the last council meeting held on May 2nd. 2005 and May 17th. 2005 be approved as circulated.

RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS, the Corporation of the Township of Burpee and Mills is in support of the May 5. 2005 Resolution Regarding Long Term Care Funding presented by the Corporation of the County of Bruce.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Corporation of the Township of Burpee and Mills supports the Corporation of the County of Bruce to call on the Ontario Provincial Government to allocate the full funding of the $6,000.00 per resident approximately $367 million in 2005-2006, as pledged by the Provincial Liberal Government, to address the shortfall and support appropriate levels of care to residents of long term care facilities.

RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Social Services Administration Board passed Resolution # 05-27 of a draft policy that would increase it’s area of responsibility to manage and assume the funeral costs for Non-Social Assistance recipients.

WHEREAS The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Social Services Administration Board requests a vote of member municipalities to determine a double majority vote to implement the proposed policy of resolution #05-27.

WHEREAS the Corporation of the Township of Burpee and Mills is not in favour of the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Social Services Administration Board’s proposition to include the management and funeral costs for Non-Social Assistance recipients.

NOW THEREFORE The Corporation of the Township of Burpee and Mills votes negative (nay) to the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Social Services Administration Board’s proposition to include the management and funeral costs for Non-Social Assistance recipients.
