Regular Council Meeting April 4th. 2005


Present:

Reeve Ken Noland, Councilors Pentti Palonen, Jeff Bailey, and Jeff Middleton.

STAFF:

BE IT RESOLVED:
That the minutes of the last council meeting held on March 7th. 2005 be approved as circulated.

That the Reeve and Clerk and Jeff Bailey, councilor attend the "Essentials of Fire Protection" Seminar on April 21st. and 22nd. at the Espanola Recreational Complex.

RESOLUTION:
That we support the Township of St. Clair’s resolution dated February 7, 2005 to resolve to recognize the real threat to the long term viability of Ontario farmers and request that the governments of Ontario and of Canada to;

a. Ensure that the implementation and application of nutrient management rules are done in a way that addresses the concerns the farm community has repeatedly raised.

b. Recognize that environmental benefits provided by farmers offset any need for administrative charges on water taking permits.

c. Restore confidence of the government/farmer partnership by re-establishing long-term investment in drainage infrastructure.

d. Immediately implement an action plan to address the farm income crisis
